Self-hosting
RevScope is open source. The tracking script, backend, and dashboard are all on GitHub, and you can run them on your own server for free. Point the tracking script at your instance and your analytics data goes to your server, not ours.
What you need
- A server with Docker and Docker Compose v2, or build RevScope as a single binary and run it without Docker.
- A domain name, if your site's visitors need to reach the tracker over the internet.
- Optionally, a free MaxMind account for visitor locations, a MailChannels account for emailing invitations and password resets, and an OpenAI-compatible AI provider for the AI chat tab.
Install it
The self-hosting guide in the README walks through installing with Docker, serving it on your own domain with HTTPS, adding the tracker to your site (the snippet sends to the hosted service unless you give it your instance's URL), and backing up and upgrading your instance. It also covers running the single binary without Docker.
How it differs from the hosted service
- No plan limits. There is no cap on events and no monthly budget for AI chat.
- One shared account. The first person to sign up owns the instance and invites everyone else, who all see the same analytics.
- You run it. Hosting, backups, upgrades, and uptime are up to you. If you'd rather skip that, the hosted service has a free plan.
License
RevScope is fair source, under the Functional Source License (FSL-1.1-ALv2), not an OSI-approved open source license. You can use, modify, and self-host it for your own sites and business, including commercially, but you can't offer it to others as a competing commercial product or service.
